This section is my “global” letter to the editor. The topics will vary: anything from “what happened to the America of my youth”, why does Maureen Dowd seem to have a vendetta against every and all Clintons, or will Lula and the PT, in Brazil, ever really allow Brazil to be democratic or have to the price pay for all their corruption.
A wide spectrum of topics will be treated, anything from how to answer the Iranian nuclear threat to how just how effective some of the much-talked-about new technologies will really be. An attempt is made to break through the “fog-of-hype” and give an objective and realistic analysis. As a retired veteran analyst of such topics as “Star Wars à la Reagan” to robotics, new materials, non-(or less than totally)lethal- as also NBC- weapons (the spectrum is really wide), I'll give you my take on the newest Hype.
Brazilian Philately : The 1930 Pan Am Zeppelin Flight
A lot of material exists concerning this segment, some correct and a lot erroneous. After spending time in the National Library of Brazil in Rio and such places as the archives of some newspapers, e.g. O Globo, I've found a lot of new information that finally sets the record straight. This sections contains such items as new information about the first day of issue of the stamps, the rates – including overweight letters were allowed, as well as new information that throws a completely new light on the Parahyba-Provisional and varies greatly from the conclusion of an article recently widely disseminated, casting new doubts about the REAL purpose of this “provisional”.
