Official Brazilian Post Office Stationary

Up to now, I've only seen five different versions of postal entires used on this flight – but that doesn't mean that more are out there and I've just never seen it yet.

50 Reis Postcard: This dark green colored postcard can be encountered very often. A few dealers used them as material for creating covers. They always carry makeup postage for the 200 or 300 Reis rate to USA or Europe.

100 Reis Postcard: This blue green card also always required makeup postage and were always relatively often used by private persons as well as some dealers. Displayed below are two examples, one sent to the USA, the other to Europe. Note that the first cover, carrying a 5$000 green on it was posted by the “famous” (in my opinion perhaps notorious) creator of the “Parahyba Provisional”. Seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy in my opinion.

200 Reis Postcard: This olive colored card did not require, for cards sent to the Americas, any makeup postage.

Thus we've again included two versions as above.

300 Reis Letter Card: This red colored stationary can lead to some very beautiful covers, as an example below demonstrates. Of all the entires displayed here, this one seems to be the most seldom used compared to the rest.

300 Reis Envelope: This example, out of a larger series, has a red frame with denomination and an embossed figure in the center (see first graphic). Again we present two examples, since the letter rate to the Americas was 300 Reis, but to Europe 500 Reis.
