Brazilian Philately: The Pan Am Zeppelin Flight of 1930 |
Stationary:
This segment includes everything from the specially printed stationary of Condor, the FBC's (folded business cards as seen in a recent book by Bell), normal Brazilian PO issued stationary (postcards, folded letters and envelopes) to the various preprinted air mail envelopes from the USA seen on this flight. The latter includes various types whose origin goes back to the founder of Linn's Stamp Weekly.
A review of those pieces of official stationary that I've seen so far.
Starting with before the flight right up the end before WWII, we examine the appearance and evolution of the stationary (envelopes, cards and sheets) produced by Condor.
An example here is the folded business card, whose use, in general, was in Europe. An Austrian dealer, through some means, managed to sent a batch of these cards from San Francisco do Sul (Brazil) to Europe with the usual postcard rate being accepted in Brazil. More details can be found in the recent book by Bell.
